Nigeria proud of Air Peace, says VP Shettima
…as airline celebrates 10th anniversary
On October 25th, Vice President Kashim Shettima praised Air Peace during the airline’s 10th-anniversary celebrations, calling it “a Nigerian product and a Nigerian pride.”
The event, attended by all 36 state governors, alongside numerous industry leaders, highlighted Air Peace’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s aviation sector and economy.
In his remarks, Shettima acknowledged Air Peace’s resilience and patriotic spirit, emphasizing the airline’s vital role in enhancing domestic routes and establishing Nigeria as a regional air travel hub. He credited Dr. Allen Onyema, the airline’s Chairman, for creating thousands of jobs for Nigerians and individuals beyond Nigeria’s borders.
The Vice President lauded Air Peace for its ability to navigate industry challenges, stating, “Air Peace has displayed an exceptional level of resilience that speaks to the strength of its leadership and workforce.” He reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to supporting the airline and safeguarding its brand in the aviation industry.
Highlighting recent developments, Shettima mentioned the approval of the Cape Town Convention on aviation leasing, a policy designed to lower operational costs and boost competitiveness. He underscored that this initiative would enable airlines like Air Peace to continue their expansion and success.
Shettima also recalled Air Peace’s crucial role in repatriating Nigerians from conflict zones in Sudan, Libya, and South Africa, reflecting the airline’s commitment to the nation.
In concluding his address, which was delivered by the Minister of Transport, Hon. Sa’idi Alkali Ahmed, the Vice President urged Air Peace to maintain its focus on the community, stating, “Prioritize the people, listen to them, and carry them along.”
