Nigerian Army buries Brig. Gen. Braimah, other fallen soldiers in Maiduguri

The Nigerian Army on Wednesday buried late Brigadier General Omo Braimah, Captain Ismail and other soldiers who died in the line of duty at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri, Borno State, with full military honours.
The burial ceremony, attended by grieving families, colleagues and top government officials, was marked by solemn tributes and reflections on the sacrifices made by the fallen officers in defence of the nation.
Among dignitaries present were Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum; the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd); the Chief of Defence Staff; the Chief of Army Staff; and other senior military officers.
In their tributes, the officials described the deceased as brave and dedicated personnel who paid the ultimate price to safeguard Nigeria’s peace, unity and security.
They noted that the sacrifices of the fallen soldiers would not be forgotten, adding that their courage and commitment to duty would continue to inspire both serving personnel and future generations.
Prayers were offered for the repose of their souls, while citations highlighting their service records were read in honour of their contributions to national security.
The ceremony also brought to the fore the grief of the bereaved families, a stark reminder of the human cost of ongoing security operations across the country.
Addressing families the bereaved families, the military reiterated its commitment to supporting the families of the deceased and sustaining efforts to protect the nation.
