Nigerian teen cyclist presents Guinness World Record to tourism minister

Nigerian 15-year-old autistic artist and cyclist, Kanyeyachukwu “Kanye” Tagbo-Okeke, has presented his Guinness World Record certificate to the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, following his 686-mile cycling expedition from Enugu to Lagos.
The presentation took place in Abuja on Wednesday, where Musawa commended Kanye and his family for channeling his talent and energy into productive achievements while promoting autism awareness.
Musawa described the teenager as “a shining light for the world,” praising his resilience, creativity and determination to break barriers despite challenges associated with autism.
“Kanye is the personification of what makes us want to be better human beings. He continues to break every single glass ceiling and surpass every expectation,” the minister said.
She added that the teenager’s accomplishments could one day earn him global recognition, including consideration for honours such as the Nobel Peace Prize.
Earlier, Kanye’s mother, Dr. Silvia Tagbo-Okeke, presented the certificate to the minister and thanked her for her consistent support towards Kanye’s projects and exhibitions over the years.
She explained that the cycling expedition, which took place between March 19 and April 2, 2026, also served as a tourism campaign, with community engagements and official receptions held across several states visited during the journey.
Dr. Tagbo-Okeke further disclosed that Kanye’s upcoming art exhibition would hold at the United Nations in New York from May 20 to August 25, 2026.
