Obasa applauds Remi Tinubu’s public service at 66

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, has described the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as a phenomenal leader and mentor whose years of public service represent a model of purposeful governance.

Obasa, in a goodwill message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Dave Agboola, on behalf of his family, colleagues and the entire staff of the Assembly, joined Nigerians at home and abroad in celebrating the First Lady on her 66th birthday.

The Speaker expressed the Assembly’s appreciation for Tinubu’s foundational role and guidance during her tenure as First Lady of Lagos State, noting that her political mentorship had influenced several leadership journeys in the state and beyond.

“Your transition from the state level to becoming a three-term Senator and now the First Lady of the Republic has been a masterclass in purposeful public service,” Obasa said.

He also commended her impact through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), saying the programme had redefined the Office of the First Lady by providing direct support to vulnerable Nigerians.

Obasa highlighted her empowerment of thousands of women petty traders with ₦50,000 grants across the six geopolitical zones, as well as the distribution of livelihood tools, including freezers, generators and grinding machines.

He also praised her five-point welfare initiatives, including the Emergency Cash Transfer Programme and HOPE-SP, for providing support to vulnerable households.

The Speaker further commended Tinubu’s commitment to girl-child education, citing the renovation of the Alternative High School for Girls in Agboju, Lagos, and the distribution of more than 140,000 educational books through the “Educating Linda” scholarship initiative.

He also acknowledged her environmental advocacy through the RHI Green Nigeria Challenge, which seeks to encourage young Nigerians to take action on climate change.
