Oluremi Tinubu celebrates women’s resilience, defends Senate’s integrity

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has praised the resilience of Nigerian women while reaffirming the integrity of the Senate.
Speaking in Abuja ahead of International Women’s Day (IWD), she described the Senate as a mature institution that must be treated with respect.
Her remarks come amid sexual harassment allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. Addressing concerns over the controversy, Tinubu expressed confidence in the Senate’s handling of the issue. “I believe the Senate is doing what is necessary,” she said.
Having served in the Senate for 12 years, she emphasized that it should be a place of honor, not controversy. She urged women to assert themselves in leadership and maintain their dignity. “Don’t allow men to talk to you anyhow,” she advised.
Tinubu also celebrated the achievements of Nigerian women, citing figures like Zuriel Oduwole, and encouraged young Nigerians to strive for excellence.
