Ondo court remands man for unlawful entry into church premises, breaching peace

An Akure Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered the remand of a man, Sulaima Abdullahi, over alleged unlawful entry into a church premises in Ondo State.
The defendant was arraigned by the Ondo State Amotekun Corps on a two-count charge bordering on unlawful entry with intent to commit a felony.
Prosecuting counsel, O.F. Baba, told the court that the incident occurred on March 13, 2026, at about 5:30 p.m. at YGGM Church, located in Oke Padre, Oke Aruwa, in Ondo West Local Government Area.
Baba alleged that the defendant entered the church premises in a manner capable of breaching public peace, stating that, “The act was carried out in a way that could cause a disturbance or raise reasonable apprehension of a breach of peace.”
The prosecutor added that the alleged offences contravened Sections 410 and 415 of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006.
In his response, the defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges, while his counsel, D.S. Ominidougha, urged the court to grant him bail on liberal terms, assuring that he would not abscond.
In her ruling, Magistrate Damilola Sekoni granted bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties but ordered his remand at the Olokuta Correctional Centre after he failed to meet the conditions, and adjourned the case until June 10, 2026.
