Ondo Police redeploy DPO over Mandykiss custody breach
By Boye Oyeyemi –
The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, has ordered the redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer of Enu Owa Division for alleged unprofessional conduct.
The action followed a viral video involving social media influencer Adefolarin Ayomiposi, popularly known as Mandykiss, who was seen recording and taking pictures of suspects in custody.
In a statement referenced Ref No. AZ:5280/ONS/PPRO/VOL.1/314, and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, the Command said the incident violated police procedure and public trust.
Preliminary findings revealed that Mandykiss arrested two women accused of cyberbullying without police escort and later brought them to the Enu Owa Division. She was said to have taken photos of the suspects inside the station and posted them online.
The Commissioner described the DPO’s failure to act as a breach of supervision and professionalism, saying the police would not tolerate conduct that undermines confidence in the Force.
Lawal warned that recording or photographing suspects in custody contravenes police ethics and ordered officers to remain professional and impartial in handling complaints.
