The Oyo State Government has launched a major road rehabilitation project in key areas of Ibadan, the state capital, aimed at enhancing transportation infrastructure and improving mobility.
According to a statement signed on Friday in Ibadan by the Chairman of the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA), Hon. Busoye Ogunlade, the road projects include Bashorun-Oluwo-Nla Road, Agbowo Road, Eleyele-Water Works Road, and Zion Plaza-Olusoji Road.
Ogunlade stated that the rehabilitation work is expected to be completed within eight weeks, subject to the availability of funds and the economic viability of the roads.
He emphasized that the initiative aligns with the Seyi Makinde-led administration’s commitment to making the state more attractive to both local and foreign investors. “Governor Seyi Makinde has given us the mandate to rehabilitate roads across the state, and we have mobilized our teams to these sites,” he said.
To ensure the project meets the needs of residents, Ogunlade noted that stakeholders had been directed to submit a list of critical roads requiring immediate attention in their respective areas.
He added that rehabilitation work had already commenced on some roads, while contractors are set to move to the remaining ones soon.
“Work has started on some of these roads as we speak. Repairs on the remaining roads will commence shortly,” Ogunlade stated.
He advised commuters to adhere to temporary traffic diversions and cooperate with the ongoing construction efforts to ensure smooth progress.
