Panic as fire guts petrol station in Ifako Ijaiye area

Motorists and some residents of adjoining buildings close to a petrol Station gutted by fire around Iju Obawole community in Ifako-Ijaiye axis of Lagos State scampered for safety on Wednesday.

It was gathered that the fire started minutes after residents heard a loud sound from the facility, attracting the attention of the passers-by and residents to the fuel station.

Eyewitnesses stated that the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service promptly barricaded the entrance to prevent human interference in the rescue operations when they arrived.

Meanwhile, spokesperson for the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Shakiru Amodu, confirmed that the fire was prevented from spreading to property beside the station.

Also, the Senior Special Assistant on Social Media to Lagos Governor, Jubril Gawat on his X handle, said the situation was under control,.adding that no casualty was recorded.
