First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, has commissioned the first National Headquarters of the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) in Abuja, describing the facility as a major milestone that will strengthen the organisation’s humanitarian operations across the country.
Speaking at the inauguration, the First Lady commended the Nigerian Red Cross Society for its unwavering commitment to serving vulnerable populations without discrimination, noting that the organisation has consistently provided hope and relief to people affected by disasters, conflict and other humanitarian crises.


She expressed confidence that the new headquarters would improve the Society’s capacity to coordinate emergency response efforts, enhance operational efficiency and expand its humanitarian impact nationwide.
“The influence of the activities of the Red Cross Society extends far beyond our shores. Whether providing first aid, responding to disasters, supporting victims of conflict, promoting health and well-being, or delivering humanitarian assistance to communities in need, the Society has remained steadfast in its mission of serving humanity without discrimination,” she said.
Earlier at the event, Senator Tinubu was decorated as the Grand Matron of the Nigerian Red Cross Society. She praised the leadership, staff, partners and volunteers of the organisation for their dedication and sacrifice, describing their service as making a meaningful difference in the lives of countless Nigerians.



As part of the ceremony, the First Lady toured the newly commissioned facility, including the Incident Room, where she was briefed on the Society’s fully digitised operational system designed to improve emergency response and coordination.
In separate remarks, President of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga, and the Head of Country Cluster for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Doris El-Doueihy, commended the Federal Government’s efforts in addressing humanitarian challenges across the country.
They reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Red Cross Society and its international partners to supporting vulnerable communities and improving the lives of victims of humanitarian crises.
