Lagos Police Command has apprehended a suspect at a filling station for a daring diesel theft.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin via his X handle on Tuesday.
The suspect, Enyi Emmanuel, drove to a filling station at Ile Zik in a Sienna vehicle, purportedly to purchase diesel. After filling two kegs with diesel valued at N120,000, he requested the attendant to fetch a POS terminal for payment but swiftly sped away without settling the bill.
According to reports, Emmanuel abandoned his vehicle upon encountering a police patrol team on Airport Road, Ikeja, and attempted to flee on foot. However, law enforcement officers managed to recover the vehicle and the stolen diesel.
The Police also added that subsequent investigations revealed that Emmanuel had employed this modus operandi successfully on multiple occasions.
