Rescued Kaiama kidnapping victims arrive Ilorin

Victims abducted during the deadly attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have arrived in Ilorin following their rescue after spending several months in captivity.
The victims arrived in Ilorin late Thursday night after being rescued from captivity in Niger State following sustained military operations and coordinated efforts by security agencies.
They were abducted when armed bandits invaded Woro earlier this year, killing several residents and taking others into the forest, prompting outrage and intensified security operations.
Following the rescue operation, the victims were transported from Niger State to the Nigerian Army’s 2 Division, Sobi Barracks, Ilorin, where they were received by military authorities.
They were later moved to an undisclosed location, where they spent the night under the care of the authorities.
The rescued victims are expected to be formally handed over to Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who has been engaging security authorities over efforts to secure their release.
Meanwhile, authorities are expected to verify the number of victims rescued and assess their condition before providing the necessary medical, psychological and other forms of support.
The arrival of the victims marks a major breakthrough in the months-long efforts to secure their release and reunite them with their families.
