The transactionalism of Trump’s foreign policy — by Dayo Williams

I never knew a day would come like this when I would agree with Boris Johnson, former British Prime Minister and ex-leader of the Conservative Party. He used to be a lackey of President Donald Trump during his premiership

He spoke the truth in a short post where he took a jab at Trump for kowtowing to Russian oil and gas while blaming Ukraine’s President for the galloping prices of oil and gas across the world.

Trump has asked Ukraine to stop attacking Russian oil and gas facilities. He even subtly asked Ukrainians to change their President. Unbelievable! An American President is now a Russian agent! Jesus wept!

For those who don’t know: President Trump is the architect of the current soaring prices of fuel around the world, occasioned by his senseless invasion of Iran and the attendant effects on the Strait of Hormuz, which led to a significant disruption in the global oil supply chain.

He’s only blaming Ukraine now because he needs the dishonest fury to strike a deal with Russia to get diesel and gas supply to the US because of the midterms coming up in Nov.

He wants to beat down the prices of fuel in the US at all costs, even if it is in the short term for political reasons. To that end, he doesn’t mind becoming a Russian agent or a middleman for the country’s oil and gas.

I hope Americans, not the MAGA-fied ones, can see through his shenanigans and punish the Republican Party in November.

His ratings are terrible. He is doing everything, no matter how dishonest and even extraconstitutional, to ensure that the GOP does not lose its grip on the American Congress; otherwise, it will no longer be a smooth sail for his administration once the Democratic Party takes over, as the polls are currently showing.

Who would ever imagine that an American President would promise to give every American of voting age USD 5,000 if they should vote for the RP? What’s vote buying again?

The US used to be the model bastion of liberal democracy, until the coming of the MAGA man, who has come to piss on whatever is left of American exceptionalism.

A collective interpretation of Trump’s sundry foreign policy interventions, since his coming to power, especially in his second term, shows he is a transactional leader without morality, who disrespects international law and conventions with contemptible disregard for US traditional allies, especially in NATO and across Asia.
