Tinubu commissions Kuje-Gwagwalada road, pledges more projects in satellite towns

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday said his administration is laying the foundation for Nigeria’s long-term prosperity through the provision of critical infrastructure across the country.

The President stated this while commissioning Phase 1 of the Kuje-Gwagwalada Dual Carriageway in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. He was represented at the event by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Tinubu said the road project reflects his administration’s commitment to ensuring that development reaches all parts of the country, including satellite communities.

According to him, the newly completed 7-kilometre dual carriageway will improve security, boost economic activities and ease transportation for residents of Kuje, Gwagwalada, Kwali and neighbouring communities.

“For decades, this road was a death trap. Traders from Kuje, Gwagwalada, Kwali, and beyond lost time, goods, and sometimes lives while plying this route,” the President said.

He added that the road, equipped with solar-powered street lights, pedestrian walkways and drainage systems, would serve as an important economic corridor linking Abuja to three area councils and providing an alternative route to southern Nigeria.

Tinubu noted that the project would unlock the agricultural potential of the area, facilitate new residential developments and improve the safety of commuters.
