Tinubu to commission Ojota-Opebi link bridge, other key projects in Lagos

President Bola Tinubu will, on Wednesday and Thursday, April 8 and 9, commission some landmark projects in Lagos as part of his two-day visit to the state.
The projects are the Ojota-Opebi link bridge, Lagos State Geographic Information Service Building (e-GIS) , a Multi-Agency Complex named after the President, the newly completed Tolu school complex in Ajegunle area and the Mid- level Agro- Produce Hub, Abijo, Ibeju Lekki, Lekki-Epe expressway. This development was disclosed at a briefing by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.
At the briefing, he stressed that Lagos, being the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria deserves investment in critical sectors such as transportation, infrastructure development, education, and public sector development, adding that the projects will ease mobility, stimulate economic activities, and enhance social welfare.
Speaking about the Tolu Schools Complex, he revealed that the school comprises 36 public schools (31 secondary and five primary schools) with 20,000 pupils on an estimated 11.73 hectares of land, adding that the school was built 42years ago and had dilapidated before the present administration rebuilt it, reaffirming the continued commitment of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration to infrastructural development, economic growth, and improved quality of life for Lagosians.
Omotoso further noted that the facilities provided in the complex include a standard football pitch, race tracks, a multipurpose sport court for outdoor games, a fire service station, a health centre, perimeter fences and gates to maintain security, water harvester, a biodigester, solar panels to ensure stable power supply and a mechanical lift powered by solar for People Living With Disabilities, PLWD.
He equally stated that the Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency (LASIAMA) will take charge of the maintenance of the school building to avert deterioration amid indicating that the 5.04km Opebi-Ojota Link Bridge will address traffic challenges in the Ojota, Maryland, Mende, Opebi, and Allen axis within the Ikeja metropolitan zone.
On the new Alausa Multi-Agency Building, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Works, Adekunle Olayinka, said it will bring multiple government agencies into a single, integrated complex, reduce the physical and administrative distance between agencies and save government cost of renting offices for agencies. Also, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, represented by the General Manager, Lagos State Transport Management, LASTMA, Bakare Oki-Olalekan, said 500 LASTMA officials will be on ground to direct traffic and ensure smooth traffic flow.
Omotoso assured Lagosians that security, logistics, and traffic management plans are being carefully coordinated to minimize disruptions to daily activities while urging residents to cooperate with the Lagos State government.
