Wadada defends Tinubu’s economic reforms, says critics ignore signs of recovery

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Ahmed Wadada, has defended the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu, insisting that the administration has recorded measurable progress despite prevailing challenges.

Wadada spoke on Thursday after meeting President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he said discussions centred on supporting the President’s efforts to advance national development.

According to him, the administration’s reforms are beginning to yield positive results, reflected in improvements across key economic indicators.

“My mission to the Villa, as always, is to see how best we will all contribute our quota to the growth and development of Nigeria, which is the utmost objective of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

The APC candidate pointed to the country’s foreign reserves, exchange rate stability, balance of payments, trade performance and capital market growth as evidence of economic recovery.

“If the truth should and must be said, let’s look at all the indicators. All the indicators that show economic growth and development of the system are looking glaringly promising and brighter than what they were,” Wadada said.

He claimed Nigeria’s foreign reserves had increased from below $30 billion when Tinubu assumed office to between $56 billion and $57 billion, while attributing the relative stability of the naira to the unification of the foreign exchange market.

“All the windows have been closed, they have been unified, which has greatly informed today the stability of the naira against the dollar,” he added.
