We’ve outstanding, dedicated staff who provide students with best education, guidance – LASU VC 

The Vice-Chancellor, Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, assured newly students that the university has a galaxy of outstanding staff who are dedicated to providing them with the best education and guidance.

The VC made this known while delivering her address at the orientation programme organised for newly admitted students in the 2024/2025 academic session held at the Buba Marwa Auditorium and the Femi Gbajabiamila Conference Centre, main campus, Ojo, Lagos.

In her words, “I am proud to inform you that this University boasts of a galaxy of outstanding members of faculty and staff who are dedicated to providing you with the best education and guidance. As a matter of fact, they will work with you to ensure you reach your full potential and achieve your set objectives. During your stay on campus, the university shall ensure that you are exposed to all the skills and opportunities that will make your academic experience worthwhile on campus.”

The professor of Physiology urged the students to be of good conduct and eschew acts that could bring their academic pursuit to jeopardy as the university has zero tolerance for antisocial behaviours or tendencies.

“Any student found guilty of disrupting the normal academic business of the University will face dire consequences in line with the University guidelines”, she said.

In his address, the Acting Dean, Students’ Affairs – Dr Abiodun Fatai-Abatan averred that the orientation programme is a tradition to acclimatise and adapt new students to the principles and core values of the University.

He corroborated the words of the Vice-Chancellor and affirmed that the University has top-notch lecturers who will be mentors for the students in their academic journey.

According to him, “The scholars here are leaders in their fields and are applying their expertise through scholarship, research and real-world experience to address both the most pressing challenges of the day and enduring human questions. Get to know them, talk to them during and after class, ask them about their research, and share with them your own ideas, too. They will challenge you, guide you, and open doors to new possibilities for you”.

He assured “The Students’ Affairs Division would continue to operate an open door policy. The Division is committed to providing top-notch welfare services, supporting them in their academic pursuit and strengthening management policies and guidelines to promote a stimulating academic environment for character moulding, innovations and rewarding academic experience in the Lagos State University”.

The programme had some resource persons who enlightened the students on various important topics such as Health, Financial matters, Counselling Services, Sports, Reading Habits, University Laws, Academic Records, Security, Emotional Intelligence, and Sporting Activities.
