LASG appoints Ogunmuyiwa as Provost of Lagos State College of Nursing

The Lagos State Government has appointed Dr. (Mrs.) Ayodeji Ogunmuyiwa as the Provost of the Lagos State College of Nursing, Midwifery, and Public Health Nursing (LASCON). Her appointment was formally conveyed through a letter signed by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro.
Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Mr. Tolani Sule, presented the letter on behalf of the state government at Alausa, noting that the appointment comes as part of efforts to reposition the state’s tertiary health institutions and improve healthcare delivery.
Sule described Ogunmuyiwa’s selection as merit-based, citing her vast administrative experience, strong professional background, and impressive track record. He expressed confidence in her ability to transform LASCON into a top-tier institution in the West African sub-region.
He also stressed the College’s critical role in addressing the healthcare needs of Lagos State by producing competent health professionals who meet international standards. He assured the new Provost of the Ministry’s full support throughout her tenure.
In her remarks, Dr. Ogunmuyiwa thanked the Lagos State Government for the opportunity to serve and pledged to uphold academic excellence and professionalism. She committed to producing globally competitive graduates and maintaining a steady academic calendar.
Dr. Ogunmuyiwa is a Registered Nurse and Nurse Educator, accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, and a certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She holds a Ph.D. in Nursing Science from Babcock University and two Master’s degrees—one from the University of Botswana in Nursing Science and another in Measurement and Evaluation from the University of Lagos.
She earned a First-Class Bachelor of Nursing Science degree from the University of Botswana and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Lagos. She is also an alumna of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, where she studied Science and Laboratory Technology.
A seasoned clinician, educator, and researcher, Dr. Ogunmuyiwa is widely recognised for her contributions to nursing education and practice. She succeeds Mrs. Anuoluwapo Priesly, who served as Acting Provost.
