2027: Defectors are repositioning for survival – Dalung

A former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has said politicians defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) are repositioning themselves either for survival, protection, or evasion of prosecution.
He said it is the electorate that should decide such if an elected officeholder should defect.
Dalung said this on Tuesday as guest on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief.
The latest wave of defection, was the Delta Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, collapsing its structure and joined the APC.
While Oborevwori said the defection was in the interest of the state, Dalung does not agree with the governor’s argument.
“The wave of defections or the gale of defections of the political elites who are repositioning themselves either for survival, protection, or evasion of prosecution cannot be taken seriously by students of Nigerian politics,” Dalung said.
