The Ondo State Government has begun the construction of a hostel at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in Ikare Akoko to improve accommodation for corps members serving in the state.
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa announced the project on Friday during the swearing-in of the 2025 Batch A Stream One corps members held at the camp.
He said the hostel, designed to accommodate 216 corps members, had been approved by the state government and was already at an advanced stage, with assurances of timely completion.
The governor stressed that the welfare and security of corps members remained a top priority, noting that the state had maintained relative peace through effective collaboration with security agencies.

Speaking through the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Segun Omoyofunmi, Aiyedatiwa urged corps members to embrace their service year as an opportunity to make a positive impact on host communities.
He advised them to integrate with residents, uphold discipline, and carry out their assignments with commitment and integrity.
Also speaking, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare, said the orientation programme was designed to prepare corps members for national service through physical training, lectures, and skills acquisition activities.
