INEC fixes September 19 for by-elections in four states
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled September 19, 2026, for the conduct of five by-elections across four states.
The elections will hold in Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta states, according to the commission.
The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Tunde Oketola, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Tuesday.
Oketola said the five elections comprised one federal constituency and four state constituencies.
He said the federal constituency election would be conducted in Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency of Gombe State.
According to him, the state constituency elections would hold in Disina and Sakwa constituencies in Bauchi State.
He added that the remaining two state constituency elections would take place in Udu Constituency in Delta State and Dawakin Kudu Constituency in Kano State.
The September 19 polls are expected to fill the vacant legislative seats in the affected constituencies.
