Hoodlums have attacked a base of Operation Burst, a joint security outfit comprising personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigerian Army, in Oyo State, carting away some property.
The security post, located along the Igbeti–Igboho road, was attacked in the early hours of Sunday. The attacked site is situated between Olorunsogo and Oorelope Local Government Areas of the state.
The attack reportedly occurred between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., with the assailants allegedly setting the security post on fire during the incident.
The Chairman of Olorunsogo Local Government Area, Kazeem Olayanju, confirmed the attack, saying “no casualty was recorded.”
Olayanju said the attackers burnt the security post constructed for the operatives and also set an abandoned vehicle at the location ablaze.
He added that the assailants carted away some property belonging to the security outfit, including a generator and motorcycle.
“The information is true. But there is no casualty. They burnt the security post we constructed for them. They also set ablaze an abandoned vehicle there. They also carted away their generator and motorcycle. It occurred today around 5am and 6am,” Olayanju disclosed.
Operation Burst was established by the immediate past governor of Oyo State, the late Abiola Ajimobi, as a joint security initiative aimed at tackling criminal activities and improving security across the state.
