TDF hails JP Morgan’s Nigeria expansion as endorsement of Tinubu’s reforms

The Democratic Front (TDF) has described JP Morgan’s decision to expand its operations in Nigeria as a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms.
In a statement jointly signed by its chairman, Mallam Danjuma Muhammad, and secretary, Chief Wale Adedayo, the group said the move reflected confidence in Nigeria’s economic prospects and could attract more foreign direct investment into the country.
TDF said the US-based financial institution would not have expanded its presence in Nigeria without recognising the viability of the economy, describing the development as a major milestone in the government’s efforts to attract foreign investment.
“Against this backdrop, we see this move by JP Morgan as a win for the Tinubu administration,” the statement said.
The group noted that international investors consider macroeconomic stability, exchange-rate risks, regulatory predictability, corporate governance and the quality of investment opportunities before committing funds to any country.
It expressed optimism that JP Morgan’s presence would encourage other leading international financial institutions to explore investment opportunities in Nigeria, while improving access to global markets and strengthening investor confidence.
According to TDF, the development could also improve foreign-exchange liquidity, support stability in the naira’s exchange rate and facilitate international trade by making it easier for local importers and exporters to conduct foreign-exchange transactions.
The group added that JP Morgan’s operations could raise professional standards in Nigeria’s banking sector, create high-paying jobs and encourage the adoption of modern financial technologies and global banking practices.
