Tinubu departs Abuja for Saudi Arabia to pray for Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Thursday for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform the lesser Islamic pilgrimage, Umrah, and pray for Nigeria’s peace, unity and stability.
The President’s trip will follow the commissioning of equipment acquired by the Nigerian Air Force for its operations at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu will use the spiritual journey to seek divine guidance and blessings for the country.
“While in Makkah, President Tinubu will perform the religious rites associated with Umrah, seeking Allah’s guidance and blessings for Nigeria and its people,” the statement said.
The President is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the pilgrimage.
Umrah is a voluntary Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah that can be performed at any time of the year, unlike the annual Hajj, which takes place during a specific period of the Islamic calendar.
