President Bola Tinubu has nominated six executive directors for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), seeking Senate confirmation for their appointments.
The nominees include three serving directors nominated for another term and three new appointees, according to a statement issued on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The three returning directors are Abiodun Adeniji, nominated as Executive Director, Finance and Accounts; Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha, Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Mustapha Lamorde, Health, Safety, Environment and Community.
The new nominees are Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa, Executive Director, Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ogechukwu Modie, Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Said Abutalib, Corporate Services and Administration.
According to the statement, all six nominees will serve five-year terms if confirmed by the Senate.
Tinubu urged the Senate to consider the nominations expeditiously to ensure continuity in the agency’s operations and strengthen its regulatory oversight.
The President also approved the appointment of Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board/Authority and Legal Adviser, subject to the completion of statutory procedures under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act.
In April, Tinubu appointed Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as the NMDPRA chief executive.
