Mbah urges South-East voters to back Tinubu’s re-election bid
Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has urged voters in the South-East to disregard calls against supporting President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election, saying the region must sustain its political relationship with other parts of the country.
Mbah made the appeal on Saturday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Women’s Mega Rally and Empowerment Programme held at Okpara Square, Enugu.
The rally, which was attended by the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, featured an empowerment programme for women in the South-East.
The governor said the 2027 election would provide an opportunity for the people of the region to demonstrate their ability to build political and economic relationships beyond the South-East.
He argued that the Igbo people were not ethnic bigots but a strategic group with established business and social connections across Nigeria.
“We must finish the journey we all started together. We must come out on January 16 with our PVC and ensure that the good work Mr President is doing will continue,” Mbah said.
He urged residents of the region not to be swayed by opposing political voices, insisting that continued support for Tinubu would strengthen the South-East’s relationship with the rest of the country.
Mbah also credited the Tinubu administration with making funds available to state governments for infrastructure development.
He called on voters to support APC candidates in the January and February 2027 elections.
Also speaking, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma said the South-East was prepared to support Tinubu’s second-term ambition, arguing that the President had promoted greater political inclusion for the region.
