AbdulRazaq receives rescued Kaiama kidnapping victims

Kwara State Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Friday received victims rescued after their abduction from Woro in Kaiama Local Government Area at the Government House in Ilorin.

The governor described the bloody attack in February as sad and regrettable, particularly as many of those rescued were women and children.

AbdulRazaq received the victims from the Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Brig. Gen. Nicholas Rume, who said their rescue was achieved through the combined efforts of security agencies.

Meanwhile, AbdulRazaq commended President Bola Tinubu for his swift response to the security challenges in Kwara and his continued support for efforts to protect residents.

He said Tinubu had approved the establishment of five army battalions in Omu-Aran, Patigi, Ilemona, Kosubosu and Kaiama, while the 9 Division of the Nigerian Army had also been established in the state.

According to him, the 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi, is also being relocated to Bode-Saadu, adding that the measures would strengthen security and provide a shield for Kwara against future attacks.

Similarly, the Emir of Kaiama, Muazu Umar, expressed regret over the deaths recorded during the February attack and thanked the president for his support, while praying for the rescue of those still in captivity.

Rume, in his remarks, described the incident as sad but expressed happiness over the successful rescue of the victims, while AbdulRazaq said about 46 victims were receiving treatment in hospital and assured residents that the government would continue working to safeguard lives and property.
