Makinde inaugurates 177 shops, motor park, other projects in Oyo

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Friday inaugurated 69 lock-up shops, 108 open stalls, a motor park, a new road network and a modern restaurant constructed by the Ibadan North-East Local Government at Agodi-Gate Market in Ibadan.
Speaking at the inauguration at Araromi Market, Agodi-Gate, Makinde said his administration would continue to redefine governance at all levels through projects that directly improve the lives of residents across the state.
He directed that roadside traders operating around the market be relocated to the newly constructed shops free of charge, while warning beneficiaries to report anyone demanding payment for the allocation of the facilities.
According to him, the collaboration between the state and local governments has continued to deliver impactful development, adding that the completed market and motor park would restore the commercial hub and provide a safer and more conducive environment for traders and commuters.
Makinde also said his administration would make adequate provisions for traders before enforcing restrictions on roadside trading, noting that many of them depend on their businesses to support their families and educate their children.
The governor commended the Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Ibrahim Akintayo, for executing the projects, which came less than 24 hours after the inauguration of similar infrastructure, including a road network, fire service building and modern car park with shops, at Bodija International Market.
In his remarks, Akintayo thanked Makinde for his commitment to people-oriented policies, saying the projects would promote orderly transportation, stimulate commerce, create jobs, improve sanitation, provide a conducive business environment and boost revenue generation for the local government.
The inauguration was attended by Deputy Governor Adebayo Lawal, Secretary to the State Government Prof. Olanike Adeyemo, Chief of Staff Segun Ogunwuyi, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters Ademola Ojo, market leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders and other government officials.
