ADC poses threat to Nigeria’s democracy, says Tinubu Media Support Group

The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG), a pro-government advocacy platform, has described the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a threat to Nigeria’s democracy, alleging that the opposition party is made up of failed and power-driven politicians.

The group stated that it is not surprising that many Nigerians are gravitating towards the All Progressives Congress (APC), which it said has demonstrated a clear path to national prosperity.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Emeka Nwankpa, and Secretary, Dapo Okubanjo, TMSG argued that if the ADC intends to present itself as a credible alternative, it should field individuals who have not previously held public office.

According to the group, many of the individuals leading the ADC have occupied political positions in the past without notable achievements or impactful performance.

“We have noticed how leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have continued to posture, presenting themselves as credible alternatives to the ruling party, but many of them who have held public office since 1999 failed woefully, sinking the country into deeper depths of misery,” the statement read.

They also criticised key figures within the opposition, including former Senate President David Mark, former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, urging Nigerians to scrutinise their records in public office.

TMSG maintained that Nigerians who have witnessed the country’s democratic journey since 1999 are in a better position to identify those it described as real threats to democracy.

The group further warned citizens to be cautious of politicians it accused of lacking credible achievements, insisting that such individuals should not be entrusted with leadership.
