Akande, Oyetola will guide APC to best choice for 2026 – Oyintiloye

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has expressed confidence that the national leader of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, and other stakeholders will ensure that only the best candidate emerges for the 2026 governorship election.

Speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye, a member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), said Akande, Oyetola, and the state chairman of the party, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, possess the experience and political maturity to deliver a credible and transparent selection process in line with party guidelines.

According to him, although no fewer than ten aspirants have indicated interest in the APC ticket, only one candidate will eventually be chosen, and the party leadership will ensure that the most acceptable and electable aspirant emerges to return the APC to power in Osun.

He said, “All the aspirants of the APC have the capacity to contest and win the election, but the reality is that only one person can be the party’s candidate. However, the number of aspirants who have shown interest will not be a problem because Chief Bisi Akande, our national leader; Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, the leader of the party in the state; and the party’s chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, working with other stakeholders, will pick the best man from the APC’s long list of aspirants.”

Oyintiloye urged all aspirants to support whoever emerges as the party’s candidate, stressing that the next governorship election in the state remains crucial and requires unity and cohesion to reclaim Osun from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He noted that the people of Osun were already yearning for the return of the APC to power, given what he described as the current realities on the ground.

The former lawmaker maintained that all the aspirants were capable, and whoever emerges as the party’s candidate would win the election with a wide margin if the party remains united.

Oyintiloye commended Akande, Oyetola, and Lawal for keeping the APC united, which, according to him, has continued to attract bigwigs from the opposition to the ruling party.
