Armed men invade Oyo govt secretariat

Armed men on Saturday morning besieged the Oyo State Government Secretariat, making attempts to breach both the Governor’s Office and the state House of Assembly complex.

The motive behind the assault remains unclear, given that the secretariat is currently on break and deserted.

However, eyewitnesses reported that the intruders, clad in military camouflage and concealing their faces with masks and scarves, arrived unannounced at the premises.

Responding to the threat, a coalition of law enforcement, including policemen stationed at the Governor’s Office, Amotekun operatives, and additional security reinforcements, managed to repel the intruders after a confrontation.

The armed men, believed to have arrived in buses displaying flags associated with certain agitators, engaged security forces in gunfire, prompting a heavy deployment of security personnel, including soldiers, to seal off the area.

Traffic diversions have been implemented, and the situation remains tense, with no confirmation yet on any arrests made in connection to the incident.
