Atiku’s candidacy: PIG revises November electoral projection after Abuja court ruling

The Political Intelligence Group (PIG) of Politico.ng has revised its November projection of the 2027 presidential election, particularly its assessment of the electoral prospects of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
In a statement issued in Lagos on Friday and signed by its Chairman, Lai Omotola, the group said it now projects a wide margin of victory for President Bola Tinubu, particularly in the North, if the Federal High Court ruling is upheld and Atiku is eventually excluded from the ballot.
PIG reasoned that a majority of Northern voters would prefer Tinubu to complete his remaining four-year term rather than another eight years under an administration led by Peter Obi.
The group said its forthcoming December edition would provide a comprehensive assessment of the political implications of the appeal filed by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) against the ruling.
The revision followed a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja, delivered shortly after PIG unveiled its November projection of the 2027 presidential election at a press conference in Lagos on Thursday.
Justice Peter Lifu nullified the leadership of the ADC faction led by former Senate President David Mark and invalidated decisions taken under its leadership, including the May 25 presidential primary in which Atiku Abubakar emerged as the party’s candidate.
The judge also declared the Mark-led Interim National Working Committee (NWC) of the party illegal.
