BOUESTI SUG bans after-parties, night gatherings after Sunday stampede

The Students’ Union Government of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti, has suspended all after-parties and late-night gatherings within and around the campus following the loss of three people at an after-party held by students of the institution to commemorate their convocation ceremony.

The directive was contained in a safety advisory issued to students on Sunday, citing growing concerns over security.

The union said the decision became necessary due to prevailing circumstances that require urgent action to safeguard lives.

It stated that measures had been introduced to ensure order and protect students across the institution.

Under the new directive, students have been warned against organising or attending any form of after-party until further notice.

“This decision has been taken in the best interest of students. Anyone who ignores this advisory does so at their own risk,” the statement read.

Western Post reported earlier that the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Micheal Falade, had ordered a full investigation into the stampede at Emirate Hotel, Ikere-Ekiti, which left three persons dead.

The victims were identified as two students of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology and a staff member of the hotel.
