‘Dele Momodu’s loyalty to Atiku tied to gains’ – Wike’s aide

Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused media personality Dele Momodu of being loyal to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar only because of financial benefits.

In a statement issued Wednesday, Olayinka described Momodu as a fairweather ally, claiming he would abandon Atiku the moment the financial support stops. “Let Atiku stop paying, and Oga Dele Momodu will move to the next victim,” he said.

Olayinka dismissed Momodu’s recent comments blaming Wike for Peter Obi’s exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “Only someone like Dele Momodu, who does not have knowledge of anything apart from his stomach, would claim that it was Wike who drove Peter Obi out of the PDP,” he said.

He also accused Atiku of being a divisive force in the PDP, alleging that the former Vice President had undermined the party’s chances since 2003. “Atiku has been the weapon fashioned against the PDP since he frustrated the party’s efforts to win Lagos State in 2003,” Olayinka added.

The FCT Minister’s aide questioned the sincerity of Atiku’s calls for power rotation to the Southeast, noting that the former Vice President obtained the PDP presidential nomination form even before the party concluded its zoning arrangements.

Olayinka pointed out that several key figures in Atiku’s previous campaigns have since distanced themselves from him. He mentioned former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel, Atiku’s 2023 running mate Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno as examples.

“Why did everyone who worked closely with Atiku during the 2019 and 2023 elections leave him? The reason can only be because someone is a selfish person who is only about himself alone,” he said.

Taking a swipe at Momodu’s identity, Olayinka added, “Wike is a proud Ikwerre man, unlike Dele Momodu who isn’t even proud of his Edo origin,” while insisting the Ovation publisher’s outbursts are being funded by Atiku.
