DIG Fayoade urges professionalism, community collaboration during Ondo inspection tour

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Information and Communication Technology, Adegoke Fayoade, has urged officers and men of the Ondo State Police Command to uphold professionalism and strengthen collaboration with communities in the fight against crime and insecurity.

Fayoade gave the charge during a working visit to the command headquarters in Akure as part of his inspection and assessment tour of police formations across the South-West geopolitical zone.

The visit featured a strategic lecture and interactive session attended by police personnel, security stakeholders and members of the Police Community Relations Committee, aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness and fostering stronger ties between the police and the public.

Addressing the gathering, the DIG emphasized the importance of ethical conduct, accountability and dedication to duty, noting that public confidence in the police depends largely on the professionalism displayed by officers in their daily engagements.

He also stressed the need for intelligence-led policing and stronger community partnerships, describing community support as a critical component of effective crime prevention and detection.

In his welcome address, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, said the visit underscored the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to strengthening security through effective supervision, operational leadership and continuous capacity building for officers.

Ohagwu further noted that the command had recorded notable successes through intelligence-driven operations, visibility policing, community engagement initiatives and the deployment of technology-based tools to combat crime across the state.

Commending officers for their dedication and sacrifices, Fayoade urged them to remain disciplined and accountable in the discharge of their duties. He called on security stakeholders and residents to continue supporting the police with credible information, stressing that sustained collaboration remains essential to addressing security challenges and ensuring lasting peace in Ondo State.
