EFCC, DSS partner on surveillance training for operatives in Lagos
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Lagos Zonal Directorate 1, has partnered with the Department of State Services (DSS) to organise specialised training on surveillance and intelligence gathering for operatives in Lagos.
Held on Friday, the programme was aimed at strengthening investigative capacity, enhancing intelligence-led operations, and deepening inter-agency cooperation in the fight against economic and financial crimes.
Speaking at the training, the acting Zonal Director of EFCC Lagos Zonal Directorate 1, ACE I Adeniyi Adebayo, emphasised the importance of continuous capacity building in law enforcement.
He said regular training equips officers with the skills and adaptability needed to respond to emerging security challenges.
“Learning should never be viewed as a one-time exercise, but as an ongoing process that equips officers with the knowledge, confidence and adaptability required to excel in a constantly changing operational environment,” he said.
The DSS representative, Deputy Director of Internal Security, Lagos Base Command, Rasheed Akanji, described surveillance as a critical tool for crime detection, prevention, intelligence gathering and prosecution.
He noted that the evolving nature of crime requires security agencies to constantly upgrade their skills and adopt modern intelligence techniques.
Participants at the session commended the initiative, describing it as insightful and useful in strengthening surveillance and intelligence-driven investigations.
