Emir of Ilorin hails AbdulRazaq over vehicle donation to Chief Imam, others
The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has commended Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for donating four official vehicles to the Chief Imam of Ilorin and the Council of Ulamah, describing the gesture as another demonstration of the governor’s support for religious institutions.
The vehicles were presented on Wednesday at the Emir’s palace in Ilorin, where the governor was represented by his senior adviser and counsellor, Alhaji Saadu Salau.
The donation includes a brand-new Toyota Prado for the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani; a bus for the Council of Ulamah; a sport utility vehicle for Imam Imale, Sheikh Abdullahi AbdulHameed; and another for Imam Gambari, Sheikh AbdulAzeez Sulaiman.
Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Emir praised AbdulRazaq for fulfilling his promise to the Chief Imam and for his continued support for religious institutions in the state. He also prayed for wisdom and divine guidance for the governor.
Speaking on behalf of AbdulRazaq, Salau said the donation was aimed at strengthening the partnership between the state government, the Ilorin Emirate and the Council of Ulamah.
He said the governor had fulfilled the promise made during the installation of the new Chief Imam, while extending similar support to the Council of Ulamah, Imam Imale and Imam Gambari.
The Chief Imam thanked the governor for the donation, describing it as a timely intervention that would ease transportation challenges faced by religious leaders. He added that the bus would enable members of the Council of Ulamah to travel together for official engagements.
The presentation came a week after AbdulRazaq donated vehicles to the Kwara State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) as part of his administration’s support for faith-based organisations.
