The Federal Government has embarked on an ambitious nationwide health upgrade, revitalizing over 1,000 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and upgrading an additional 5,500 under the Renewed Hope Health Agenda.

President Bola Tinubu announced these achievements in a statement issued to commemorate his second anniversary.

As part of the initiative, the President noted that six new cancer treatment centres are being established across the country, with three already operational.

According to him, the government is also offering free dialysis services in pilot tertiary hospitals and subsidizing the treatment in other facilities to ease patients’ burden.

Under the Presidential Maternal Health Initiative, Tinubu stated that more than 4,000 women have benefited from free cesarean sections—a move aimed at reducing maternal mortality and improving birth outcomes.

In addition, the President said health insurance coverage has been expanded from 16 million to 20 million Nigerians over the past two years, enhancing access to affordable healthcare services.

“These bold and deliberate policies are producing results,” the President said. “Our economy is growing stronger again, with real GDP rising 4.6% in the fourth quarter of 2024 and a full-year growth rate of 3.4%—one of the strongest performances in a decade.”
