Harry Kane ends trophy drought as Bayern clinch Bundesliga title

England’s all-time top scorer and former Tottenham captain, Harry Kane, has finally secured his first major professional trophy—5,223 days after making his debut in 2010.
Bayern Munich were crowned 2024/2025 Bundesliga champions, claiming their 34th league title with two games to spare after second-placed and defending champions Bayer Leverkusen drew 2-2 away to Freiburg on Sunday.
Leverkusen had needed to win their final three matches, overturn a 30-goal deficit, and hope Bayern lost their last two—a near-impossible scenario that was dashed with Sunday’s result.
Kane, who joined Bayern from boyhood club Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, is now poised to become the first player to finish his first two Bundesliga seasons as the league’s top scorer. He scored 36 goals in his debut season and has already netted 24 times this campaign with two games remaining.
Before this triumph, the 31-year-old endured a series of heartbreaks, losing a Champions League final and two Carabao Cup finals with Spurs, as well as two European Championship finals with England and the German Super Cup with Bayern last season.
He is expected to return for Saturday’s home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach, where Bayern will celebrate the title with fans at the Allianz Arena.
After nearly 700 career appearances for club and country, Kane has finally lifted a trophy, ending one of football’s most talked-about droughts.
