HCSF tasks mid-level officers on ownership of civil service reforms

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Olumuyiwa Enitan Abel, has urged officers on Grade Levels 8–14 to take ownership of ongoing Civil Service reforms and strengthen their professional capacity to improve service delivery.
Abel gave the charge during an engagement with mid-level officers across the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF).
The HCSF described the officers as key drivers of the Civil Service, noting that they occupied a critical position in translating government policies and reform initiatives into effective action and tangible results.
He said the knowledge, competence and commitment of individual officers remained fundamental to the effectiveness and sustainability of the Service.
Abel urged the officers to prioritise continuous learning and self-development, saying professional mastery would enhance their career growth and contribution to government business.
He said, “Investing in personal capacity not only enhances career growth but also strengthens the ability of officers to contribute effectively to government business and organisational performance.”
The HCSF also encouraged the officers to ask questions, seek knowledge and remain open to learning.
He said, “A knowledgeable workforce is better equipped to make sound decisions, solve problems and deliver quality results.”
In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Common Service Office, Danjuma Usman Kalba, commended Abel for convening the engagement.
