How I married my wife Titi against our parents’ wishes – Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has shared how he and his wife, Mrs. Titi Abubakar, defied their parents’ wishes to get married, as he celebrated her 75th birthday.
Speaking on their decades-long union, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate said their marriage, which has lasted over 50 years, has been filled with joy and true companionship.
Atiku praised his wife for her unwavering loyalty, support, and for accepting him despite his flaws, saying he could not have wished for a better partner in life.
The former Vice President, who is currently leading coalition-building efforts ahead of the 2027 elections, described Titi as “a blessing beyond measure.”
“On the occasion of my beloved wife Titi’s 75th birthday, I proudly say I could not have married a better woman,” he said.
“Titi and I got married in the most daring way—without the consent of our families and in the presence of just two friends.
“Today, we have been married for more than five decades. Titi has been a constant source of strength and grace to me and our family. I’m not even sure how we started calling each other ‘Mummy’ and ‘Daddy,’ but I’m grateful for her patience and tolerance. Patience truly is a virtue that never fails.”
He encouraged couples to remain patient with one another and wished his wife many more years of happiness and blessings.
