Saudi Arabia deports Sheikh Gumi despite approved Hajj visa

Prominent Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has been deported by Saudi Arabian authorities despite holding a valid visa for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.
Gumi, a Kaduna-based scholar, confirmed the development on Monday via his official Facebook page. He revealed that although his visa was approved, he was denied entry upon arrival in Medina, where he was scheduled to begin the religious rites.
Sources indicate that Gumi was among a group of Nigerian clerics sponsored by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to provide spiritual guidance to pilgrims during the Hajj.
The reason for the deportation remains unclear, and Saudi authorities have not issued an official statement on the matter.
