Tems listed among ‘100 Most Notable Peace Icons in Africa’

Soulful singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has been listed among the 2025 ‘100 Most Notable Peace Icons in Africa’.

The Grammy Award-winning singer was listed alongside the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah; and other distinguished Africans.

The list, which features several eminent Nigerians and other Africans from various sectors, was announced at the ‘Unveiling News Conference’ by the event organisers in Abuja, Nigeria.

Other recipients of the peace icon recognition include Nigerian businessman Femi Oyetola; Dr. Angel Josephat Natianota, Chief Executive Officer of HR World Limited, Tanzania; Dr. Abdelhak Najib; and Dr. Imane Kendili from Morocco.

Also on the list are Prof. Mthuli Ncube, Zimbabwe’s Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, and Munyakazi Sadate, Chief Executive Officer of Karame Rwanda Group, among others.

Ambassador Kingsley Amafibe, Project Director for Africa, 100 Most Notable Peace Icons Africa, said the honorees were selected for their commitment to causes that promote peace and development.

According to Amafibe, the peace icons are Africans drawn from diverse backgrounds who have used their talents, influence, and resources to build and foster peace across the continent.
