Kaduna-Kano rail project’ll be completed in 2026 — FG

The Federal Government has assured that the Kaduna-Kano Standard Gauge Rail Line will be completed by next year.
Minister of Transportation, Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali, gave the assurance while speaking at a government-citizen engagement forum held in Kaduna.
He said the project, which was at just 15 percent completion when President Bola Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023, has now reached 53 percent completion.
According to the Minister, this progress reflects the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and economic connectivity in the region.
Alkali disclosed that funding to fast-track the construction has been secured through a bilateral agreement with the Government of China.
He emphasized that the Tinubu administration is determined to deliver the rail project within its promised timeline.
The Kaduna-Kano Standard Gauge Rail is a major component of the Lagos-Kano rail corridor, designed to boost trade and transportation in northern Nigeria.
The minister concluded by urging citizens to support the government’s infrastructure push and remain patient as work advances steadily.
