Lagos First Lady hosts Praise 5.0, appreciates CAN for prayers
By Adeola Ogunrinde –
The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has expressed appreciation to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), religious leaders, and the Christian community for their consistent prayers and spiritual support, which she said have contributed to the peace and growth of Lagos.
She gave the commendation at the fifth edition of Lagos Praise, an interdenominational Christian concert organised by her office. The event, themed Freedom Through Praise, held at the LTV Blue Roof, Ikeja, featured sessions of thanksgiving, worship, and passionate praise.
Quoting Psalm 67:3, Dr. Sanwo-Olu emphasized that praise is a divine channel to draw the presence of God. She added that Psalm 22:3 affirms God inhabits the praises of His people, which gives assurance of divine presence and intervention.
She said the theme was inspired by Acts 16:25-26, which recounts the miraculous release of Paul and Silas from prison, underscoring the transformative power of praise and prayer.
Dr. Sanwo-Olu also recalled the inception of the Monthly Praise and Worship Programme at the beginning of the administration, held in collaboration with CAN every last Thursday at Lagos House, as a symbol of dependence on God’s guidance.
She thanked Lagos residents for their unwavering support and prayers for the administration, affirming that Lagos and Nigeria will continue to enjoy divine peace and progress.
The night featured performances by gospel legends including Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey, Yinka Alaseyori, Yinka Erinle, and choral groups from the five divisions of Lagos representing the CAN blocs.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, attended alongside members of the State Executive Council, religious leaders, permanent secretaries, and hundreds of worshippers.
