KWASU receives N2.13bn NELFund loan for 11,434 students

The Vice Chancellor of Kwara State University, Shaykh-Luqman Alde Jimoh, has acknowledged the receipt of N2,135,857,150 from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund for the benefit of 11,434 students of the institution.
The acknowledgement was contained in a letter dated April 21, 2026, and addressed to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NELFund.
In the correspondence, the university confirmed that the funds were received on April 17, 2026, as payment for the disbursement of student loans to eligible beneficiaries under the Federal Government-backed education financing scheme.
According to the university, the amount covers tuition support for 11,434 students of the institution who successfully accessed the loan programme through NELFund.
Professor Jimoh described the intervention as a significant boost to higher education financing, noting that it would ease the financial burden on students and their families while promoting access to tertiary education.
He further expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and NELFund for the timely processing and disbursement of the funds, which he said would support the academic aspirations of thousands of students.
“On behalf of the university, I sincerely thank the Federal Government and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund for the timely processing and disbursement of the funds in support of education,” the vice chancellor stated in the letter.
The development underscores the growing impact of the student loan scheme introduced by the Federal Government to expand access to higher education and provide financial assistance to students across tertiary institutions in the country.
