Labour Party faction adopts Chibuzo Okereke as 2027 presidential candidate
The Labour Party faction led by Nenadi Usman has adopted governance expert and policy strategist, Chibuzo Okereke, as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Saturday, which said Okereke emerged through a consensus arrangement involving party members and stakeholders. The decision was subsequently ratified at a meeting held in Abuja on Friday.
According to the party, Okereke is a prominent advocate of governance reforms with extensive experience in public policy, legislative administration and institutional development.
He currently serves as President of ERGAF-AFRICA Legislative Governance Innovation and Policy Hub, a policy and legislative research institution, and also works as a legislative consultant to committees and ranking members of the National Assembly.
In addition, Okereke is a lecturer in the Department of Public Policy and Administration at Miva Open University, Abuja.
The party described him as one of the country’s leading voices on public policy and governance, noting that he holds a doctorate degree in Legislative Governance Studies as well as master’s degrees in Public Administration and Legislative Studies, both obtained with distinction.
It further stated that Okereke has earned recognition for his contributions to governance, accountability and national development, while also demonstrating a strong commitment to youth empowerment, educational advancement and democratic reforms.
