No parallel Tinubu campaign committee, Osun APC assures Adeleke

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured Governor Ademola Adeleke of its commitment to work with him on the re-election campaign of President Bola Tinubu, dismissing reports that it had established a parallel presidential campaign committee in the state.

The party said the separate campaign structure being coordinated by its governorship candidate in the last election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, was strictly for parliamentary elections and not a rival to the presidential campaign council inaugurated by Tinubu.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by its director of media and information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC said there was no reason to establish a parallel presidential campaign committee when Adeleke had been appointed the state coordinator of Tinubu’s re-election campaign.

The party expressed gratitude to Adeleke for his willingness to lead efforts to secure over 1.5 million votes for Tinubu, adding that the rally held last Saturday at Nelson Mandela Park, Osogbo, demonstrated its commitment to working with the governor.

The APC also appealed to those allegedly seeking to cause division to desist from creating rancour and disunity within the coalition, which it said had been yielding positive results.

It reiterated that Oyebamiji remained the director-general of its parliamentary campaign committee, responsible for mobilising support for APC candidates contesting national and state legislative seats. It added that he was also working to promote Tinubu’s achievements ahead of the presidential election.

The party also expressed appreciation to members of its state executive committee who drew its attention to the omission of their names from the list of the Oyebamiji-led campaign committee published on social media on Tuesday. It noted that only four of the 35 members were reportedly included.

“It’s our conviction that the resentment of the said state executive members of our party was an indication that they were desirous of being counted among the active participants listed in the Oyebamiji-led parliamentary campaign council of the Osun State APC,” the party said.
