The Oyo State Police Command has successfully mediated a bitter dispute between the family and associates of the late Nigerian gospel singer, Olayemi Bolaji, widely known as Toluwanisings.
Following escalating public disagreements regarding the singer’s final resting place, the Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga, summoned the key stakeholders to the command headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, to sign a formal peace undertaking.
Tensions had initially flared when the late musician’s father, Muniru Olayemi, proposed burying his son at his newly built house or beside his late mother in Osun State, a plan directly opposed by the singer’s widow, Olayemi Elizabeth Damilola.
In response to growing concerns over potential breaches of the peace, character defamation, and public hostility, Police Public Relations Officer Ayanlade Olayinka confirmed that police intervention was initiated on October 28 to restore order.
Consequently, key figures including the singer’s widow, father, and three named associates signed the binding agreement, pledging to maintain good behaviour and immediately cease all public exchanges, interviews, and media commentary regarding the dispute.
Furthermore, the police command explicitly prohibited all parties and their representatives from circulating allegations or inflammatory material across social media, newspapers, radio, blogs, or other public communication channels.
Issuing a stern warning, Commissioner Olugbenga cautioned that anyone engaging in actions that disrupt public order will face immediate arrest and prosecution, while simultaneously urging media outlets and bloggers to refrain from publishing unverified details.
This resolution comes in the wake of the thirty-two-year-old artist’s sudden death in Ibadan on October 14, 2026, which sparked widespread public outrage amidst allegations that multiple medical facilities turned him away during an emergency.
