Ogun deep sea port, LNG projects attract fresh investors, says Abiodun

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has said the planned $7 billion Gateway Deep Sea Port and proposed $10 billion Ogun Liquefied Natural Gas (OgunLNG) project are attracting fresh investor interest to the state.
Abiodun said the projects, alongside the proposed Ogun Blue Marine and Special Economic Zone and the Federal Government’s Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, were opening up new economic opportunities and positioning Ogun for industrial expansion.
The governor spoke on Tuesday in Ijebu-Ode at a town hall meeting on the 2027–2029 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and the 2027 budget, organised by the state Ministry of Budget and Planning.
He said agreements signed with DP World in Paris would attract about $7 billion in private-sector investment for the Gateway Deep Sea Port and the Ogun Blue Marine and Special Processing Zone, describing the port as a major legacy project of his administration.
“In September, I had the privilege of travelling to Paris to sign a landmark agreement that will be the biggest legacy of my administration, and that agreement is for the construction of the Ogun Deep Sea Port,” he said.
Abiodun added that the proposed $10 billion OgunLNG project, being developed with the involvement of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, would further strengthen the state’s investment prospects, while the coastal highway would improve connectivity and open up new economic corridors.
Reviewing his administration’s achievements since 2019, the governor said it had constructed or rehabilitated more than 1,700 kilometres of roads and intervened in healthcare, education, agriculture, electricity and security. He listed the rehabilitation of more than 1,600 public schools, recruitment of over 6,000 teachers and support for thousands of farmers among the interventions.
Abiodun also highlighted the installation of power plants in Abeokuta, with similar facilities planned for Ijebu-Ode and Remo, as well as road projects across Ijebu Division, including the construction of 26 roads in Ijebu-Ode. He urged residents and other stakeholders to contribute to the 2027 budget, assuring them that proposals not accommodated would be forwarded to the incoming administration to ensure continuity.
